When a BMW driver came to us at Centre Court Car Bodyshop with damage to their vehicle's quarter panel and door, we knew we could restore the car to its former glory. The repair required precision techniques and expert finishing to achieve a flawless result that would be completely invisible once complete.

Car Bodywork Repair Process:

Assessing The Damage

Our first step was to thoroughly assess the extent of the damage to the BMW's driver's side quarter panel and door. The impact had caused denting and distortion to the metal panels, which would require specialist tools and techniques to repair properly.

We explained to our client exactly what the repair would involve and provided a detailed quotation. Our approach meant we could restore the original panels rather than replacing them, saving both time and money whilst maintaining the vehicle's original factory panels and components.

Preparing The Damaged Area

Before we could begin the actual repair work, our technicians carefully prepared the damaged area. This preparation stage is crucial to achieving a professional finish. We cleaned the panels thoroughly and marked out the exact areas requiring attention.

Proper preparation allows us to work efficiently and delivers better results. By taking the time to prep correctly, we set the foundation for a repair that will stand the test of time.

Pin Pulling The Damage

Using specialist pin pulling tools, we carefully worked on removing the dents from the quarter panel and door. This technique involves attaching pins to the damaged metal and gradually pulling it back to its original shape. It's a skilled process that requires patience and precision.

Our bodywork repair technicians used a combination of different sized pins and pulling methods to address various depths and sizes of damage across the affected area. This methodical approach allowed us to restore the metal panels without causing further stress or damage to the surrounding bodywork.

Specialist Tools & Techniques

The repair utilised a range of professional bodywork tools from our workshop. Each tool serves a specific purpose in the panel beating and restoration process. Our investment in quality equipment means we can tackle even the most challenging repairs with confidence.

Years of experience have taught our team exactly which tools to use for different types of damage, resulting in faster repair times and superior finishes.

Finishing With Light Filler

Once we had “pulled” the majority of the damage out using our pin pulling techniques, we applied a light layer of filler to achieve a perfectly smooth surface. We only use high-quality body fillers that provide excellent adhesion and durability.

Our technicians shaped and sanded the filler carefully, blending it seamlessly with the surrounding panels. This stage requires a keen eye and steady hand to get the surface perfectly level and ready for painting.

Priming & Repainting

After achieving the perfect surface finish, we applied primer to the repaired areas. The primer provides a stable base for the paint and offers additional corrosion protection. We then carefully colour matched the BMW's original paintwork to achieve an exact match.

Using our professional spray booth, we applied the paint in multiple coats, building up the coverage gradually. This controlled environment allows us to achieve a factory-quality finish free from dust and imperfections. We finished with a clear lacquer coat to protect the paintwork and deliver that showroom shine.

Quality Control & Completion

Before returning the BMW to its owner, we conducted a thorough quality inspection. Our team checked the colour match, the smoothness of the repair, and the overall finish from multiple angles and lighting conditions.

The completed repair was invisible. You couldn't tell where the damage had been, and the door and quarter panel looked as good as new.

At Centre Court Car Bodyshop, we treat every vehicle as if it were our own, delivering repairs that we can be proud of. Our client was delighted with the results, and the BMW was back on the road looking pristine.
